Hi! My name is Victor Lai, and this is my website.

I’m a graduate of the University of Waterloo Software Engineering program.

I enjoy problem solving in all forms. I strongly believe in raising the floor, and developing and nurturing sustainable, systemic solutions.

I’m a fan of perpetual self-improvement in all parts of life. I love learning, and all the pains along with it.

I love learning. I find it an amazing feeling to step back in awe of my progress so far. Try doing something with your non-dominant hand, like playing the guitar or using your mouse, and really see how much you’ve grown. I enjoy seeing my ideas and views being shaped by my the world. To that end, I’m always trying to find new things to do, or old things to enjoy with new friends.

I made this blog to document some of my thoughts, so that I can look back and see the progress I’ve made. I update it with some of my new experiences, and bookmark content that I find interesting. Hopefully you’ll find something useful as well.

Feel free to let me know what you think, or send me a message if you have any questions. I’m always glad to help.

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard

- A. A. Milne

In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.

- Albert Camus

… he that cannot change the very fabric of his thought will never be able to change reality.

- Anwar Sadat

There once was an inflatable boy and an inflatable girl. They went to an inflatable school, where all the teachers were inflatable, all the buildings were inflatable, and all the students were inflatable.

One day, the inflatable boy wondered - well, what if the whole world’s inflatable? And what if everyone’s inflatable and deflatable? And you know when you inflate someone, because they go like this -happy face, rises up a bit- and you know when you deflate someone, because they go like this -sad face, droops down-

And maybe, if you inflate lots of people - maybe then you know you’ve lived a good life. And maybe….maybe, if you can still inflate people after you’re gone, then you’ve lived an even better one.

- Adam Hills

If you’re never afraid of winning or losing, how can you ever be defeated?
